Scotty Komer, most of your issues are just learning the functions. Almost everything you've mentioned has a path. For instance, show comments to double tap and rename tracks, you need to get a good alignment of the internal mixer, the RAVEN mixer DOES lock to the PT mixer if done correctly, you scroll using two fingers on the RAVEN navpad.. and much more. I think the best thing that will give you a world of relief is to have our RAVEN specialist Matt Dodge go over all the features with you.

Please email [email protected] and leave a contact phone number and he'll fix almost everything you've listed.

Cheers,
Steven

Sweet, thank you. I figured most of it had to be user error, as my system isn't super unique.

I look forward to speaking with Matt.

Hey Steven and MTI Users

All in all we are very happy with our MTI so far. But we have one issue that's driving me nuts. We cannot use the buttons in the double rack (Click Track, Floating Mixer etc). It doesn't snap!
I can press it, drag up somewhere on the screen and then release it, but it doesnt snap when just pressing the button.

Have you ever experienced this? Is there a easy solution? Any suggestions appreciated.

A way to turn of the red set up line?...How is ableton raven coming along, I really want to have a hands on raven experience with ableton.
Hello, this is Matt Dodge from Slate Digital/Slate Media Technology replying from Steven's account to clear up some questions being asked. Please feel free to contact me via email with further questions going forward as well. <[email protected]>

Hello 3evil3mpire, a push and hold feature to set this is a nice feature suggestion and we will explore this further for inclusion in the next update. Initially it made sense to toggle as we wanted users to have quick and easy access to our multi touch faders, however due to your interest we will investigate including this as a feature in a later update.

Show/Hide Comments is a reference button allowing users to see their Pro Tools track title and the first two lines of comments.

Red Line On/Off Setting is another nice feature suggestion. As you probably remember, we included the Red Line Alignment Procedure as a new feature in the latest RAVEN Software update, but receiving your feedback that this may be something users would like to remove is something my team and I will consider. That being said, the reasoning for not including this feature initially is the worry that users would remove it and not understand that it is there to align their sessions progressively. This feature suggestion is something to consider and I have added it to our priorities for consideration.

RAVEN Ableton is in the early stages of development and we are not releasing any official completion dates at this time, but we are targeting as early as the third quarter of 2014, but again - this is not an official statement, simply an estimate.

Hello RichSnug, it is hard to say without sharing your screen however one possible issue may have been changes in your Mix Window Views, within your Views tab in Pro Tools. I would be happy to schedule a screen sharing session where I can log on to your computer and see what's happening and provide a better answer/solution to your issue. Please contact me to setup and appointment: <[email protected]>

Hello ScottyKomer, We should discuss your computer specs and confirm that your computer is meeting the requirements of the RAVEN MTi. Please contact me via email at: [email protected]

RichSnug, apparently there is a Channel/Send button that appears instead of the normal "Raven Mixer" button when in floating mixer mode. That should toggle it. I say "apparently" because mine doesn't have it. I've never seen such a button except in the pdf manual.

The CHANNEL/SEND Button only appears when the user has chosen to operate in "EXTERN MIXER" mode via their RAVEN SETTINGS. The button appears on the top right of the first RAVEN Toolbar in this mode and then the user will have access to their Multi Touch Sends & Pans.

My floating mixer seems to be a mess beyond this, as the meters don't go when audio is running through their channels. The meters don't move at all. Also my floating mixer looks short and stubby compared to the one in the manual. Heyooohhh.

The Manual has a direct screenshot of the Floating Mixer so I apologize for the confusion in size, but the size should reflect each other. That being said, the Meters on the Floating Mixer face a communication intercept that may cause a minimal delay in display, this is one specific reason why we felt the need for the "INTERN MIXER" was so important as we can directly receive PRO TOOLS Metering.

3evil3pire... I totally agree with you about the idea of having the raven mixer staying off when coming back to the mix screen. I probably wouldn't need to ever see the pro tools mixer as opposed to the Raven one, but I'm also having the same problem with "show comments" as you. I rely on comments, and delay comp displays for that matter, and wish I could see them in the raven mixer.

The feedback for keeping the delay comp is something we considered, but we decided that interrupting the fader plates was not something we thought was worthwhile in our research. That being said, I have added this note to our development feature suggestions and will explore availability in the future. In the meantime, the reason we included the RAVEN MIXER button was to be able to quickly remove the multitouch fader plates and have single touch access to anything you require that is not accessible on the Pro Tools window. Lastly, the "SHOW COMMENTS" button should display both your Track Title as well as two lines of Comments. The alignment is important for this feature to translate, but this is the case for the RAVEN MIXER in general.

I feel like something else is wrong with the mixer skin because mine looks different than the manual, somewhere near the bottom, and trying to use the mouse stops working from the solo and mute buttons and downward. It's fine for pan knobs and insert and send slots, but I can only use the touch screen for anything south of them.

This sounds like an alignment issue. I would be happy to personally assist your setup by setting up a screen sharing meeting where I can login to your computer with you watching and confirm that you have things set up correctly.

Further, "Mixer 24" messes up the left side of my screen as well. I'll try to attach some photos.

The Mixer 24/22 Button is a toggle button that should show and hide your Track List, if you did not show the Track List upon setting up your Pro Tools session, you may be running into issues here, however it is a very quick adjustment that I would be more than happy to assist you with during out screen sharing session.

And I'm not sure if it's due to my apparent display problems, or if it's simply not an option, but you can't name a track by double clicking in the field in the raven mixer. I either have to hide the raven mixer, or go do it on the edit screen. But that's a bit annoying if I'm mixing and adding, say, Auxes that I quickly want to name for routing.

Again, I believe you are experiencing an alignment error, we can further investigate this upon our screen sharing session.

I'm also insanely bummed that I can't have 10 insert slots, as I don't think I've done a single mix where at least one track uses inserts f-j. With vtm, vcc, a high pass, comp, and eq, I'm out of inserts. I can't even send out to hardware, or say add a de-esser or some saturation, without having to bus somewhere else first. I'd much much rather have shorter faders and the extra inserts on the Raven mixer. Am I missing a way to do this somehow, or are Raven MTi users not ever expected to have more than 5 plugs or hardware sends on a track (short of showing them on the edit window tracks display)?

A few suggestions to this situation, one of which is deciding to not show your SENDS A-E and instead showing the 10 INSERTS. This could be one solution for you. Additionally we have designed the RAVEN MTX software due to the larger screen (46") to display 10 INSERTS and 5 SENDS. The faders would not be 100MM Faders in this instance, however we can explore the concept of allowing you to possess the RAVEN MTX Software with shorter faders and more INSERT SLOTS during our screen sharing session.

One thing I'd love to see, as my scroll ball on my mouse has been messing me up, is to have the raven mix skin lock to the pt mixer. Obviously it does it's job well when you swipe to scroll through tracks, but I'm so used to using my scroll ball on my mouse to scroll left to right through my channels. When I do this, I see the protools mixer behind the Raven mixer whip by underneath, and they no longer line up. I can get used to this if I have to, but of course it sometimes happens accidentally. To fix it I have to scroll all the way to the left on both mixer for them to line up and grab each other again. It actually happens quite a bit. With a way to lock them together, not only would I not have this problem, but I could scroll with my scroll ball. That would be quicker for me, but of course I realize I'm just not yet used to the Raven... Although scrolling smoothly and not knocking from track to track would still be nice.

In our videos we explain just the type of solution you're looking for which is our NAVPAD. Included as both a freestanding NAVPAD as well as an integrated toolbar NAVPAD, users can use two fingers NORTH, SOUTH, EAST and WEST to Scroll through ones session. This will greatly improve your experience as you will not be touching the Pro Tools Window directly and therefore will have no issue moving the Pro Tools Window. I will personally give you a tutorial on this in our screen sharing session and confirm you are up and running and comfortable as we are set as a company on ensuring user enjoyment as well as dramatically increasing user workflow.

Hello eternally, I am sorry to hear about this issue for you. The issue has not been reported before and I can understand that would be frustrating. Please contact be via email and we can setup a screen sharing session where I can see what's happening and get you a fix immediately. Because this is something that has not been reported I want to first schedule this session and see if perhaps something has not been setup correctly.

Again, this has been Matt Dodge, not Steven Slate answering. For any further RAVEN Software questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact me via email at <[email protected]> and I will be more than happy to assist you. Have a great day everyone!

Hey Matt. The ability to only see 5 plugs and 5 sends or just 10 plugs is an absolute workflow killer for me. Either way it sucks.. Is it possible to put the tool bar vertical on the side and have the same 15 slots available? Just a thought...

keeping an eye on this - but its got to work properly with Ableton Live. As long as I can control everything in Ableton - then I'll get one for sure.

Just some notes: As Callison now knows, we have a macro key to toggle the inserts and sends on the top of the MTi!

Shaun, we are working closely with Ableton right now to make a killer RAVEN control!

Cheers,

Is the ability to save more then 4 layouts coming?

I also saw the ability to color macros, I think it was for a logic build shown at namm but it would be great if we could do that in pro tools.

I see a lot of power in the layouts, especially since Jamey keeps adding amazing new macro workflows every day, so yes I think we should do that. We'll have the forum up soon so we can take user requests but that is on the top of the list.

Not to rub it in, but man you guys are gonna love the VMR on the RAVEN!!! Soon

Cheers,
Steven

I see a lot of suggestions, I hope you guys start implementing those very soon. are you guys adding more Icons? More specific FX, additional drums etc I think I heard you say about taking a snap shot and using our own icons for the mixer. Thats cool, but I would also like more icons. Enjoy another obvious one.

Nuendo/Cubase?

I know you can not guarantee a release date exactly but me being a high end pro user that can definitely see benefit for a MTI/MTX, how far along in production are you on latest versions for Nuendo/Cubase. I currently use Nuendo 6, Cubase 7.5.1 and Pro Tools HD all for different purposes and would like to use these new devices you have created....

Great work as always.

Mti and pt11

Can't find anywhere else to ask.... But have just received mti 2 days ago. It has the RAVEN pt10 driver but no pt11. The manual v1.02 explicitly refers to both versions, each with their respective raven driver.

Does anyone know how to get this? My user are at slate just has the pt10 in the package ( plus a beta for logic).

TIA

You can purchase the MTi from Media Pros in London UK. They ship to Europe I believe.

MediaPros | Creative Solutions for Media Professionals

I had the pleasure of meeting the man himself Mr Steven Slate at Media Pros the other day. I also met some of his team. All I can say is that they are such a great bunch of people as well as the guys at Media Pros and their passion for music and their products is quite remarkable to see.

Steven and his team made me feel so welcome and spent lots of time with me. Jamie Z who now works with Slate showed me the latest batch commands software for the Raven and all I can say is wow! Jamie is a genius as far as I'm concerned as he can pretty much do any possible multi-shortcut with the Raven software. I talked to him about other possible shortcuts and he got it straight away and could clearly see the benefit of having the batch commands in place.

Definitely exciting times for the Slate team with their Raven updates, VMS Microphone system, VMR and their AAX 64 Bit upcoming releases.

I'll be going to the Media Pros event tonight at Air Studios in London and look forward to meeting the Slate team and Media Pros again.

The Raven only currently supports PT10 and PT11 when it comes to Pro Tools. That's what it states on their website. I'm not sure if they have developed the overlay software for previous versions.
