Dang!
One out of two Korg synths isn't too bad. At least we have the MS-20 Mini.

Tweakable poly synth!!! I know its not analog, but hopefully it will still sound great and also be a reasonable price!!

Going to be a great Namm with MS-20, Moog subphatty and King Korg, fantastic!!!

Korg make really good VAs. The Z1 and Prophecy are still unmatched by anything out there.

werent those two most liked for their physical modelling sounds? I hear that there are some pretty cool VA algorithms in the Kronos-maybe the KK stuff is based on those.

It needs a an editor and it should operate as a vst.

I think the Nordleads were up there, too.

But indeed, Korg does this kind of stuff really well...

...but...

...infantile name...

...and...

..wall-wart...

a tube stage on a VA

is like

an adventure weekend before your next 9 to 5 shifts

not exactly brave, Korg ...
a poly analog desktop wouldn't have been a big problem for you, would it?

and no, i did NOT hope for the resurrection of the PolySix
i was hoping for the sonic possiblities of the ps 3300
ok maybe not this, but

at least some hybrid like the sunsyn with a
sound pointing towards the future,
not some wimpy PolySix whistling.

THAT would have been great.

but hey, surprise me with the KingKorg.
maybe it sounds sound real and not made up...

That tube is a brilliant idea and will probably make this synth a killer.

NAMM: Korg KingKORG Synthesizer

KingKORG
Synthesizer

Ready for live performance.
KingKORG is the full-fledged analog modeling synthesizer you've been waiting for.
It carries on the design philosophy of classic Korg analog synthesizers such as the MS-20 and the Mono/Poly, which gave rise to the Prophecy, the Z1, the MS2000, and the RADIAS.
This exciting new instrument delivers the unique characteristics of a dedicated synthesizer, especially the fun of transforming the sound by tweaking an impressive array of knobs.
While technologically impressive, KingKORG is approachable even to players who are new to synthesizers.
And it particularly shines on stage, not only with its great sound, but also literally with a gorgeous champagne gold finish, befitting its royal name – KingKORG.

Product Highlights:
  • A full-fledged, 61-key analog modeling synthesizer designed for live performance
  • Powerful oscillators that are understandable to the beginner, yet satisfying for the expert
  • Modeling filters that reproduce the sound of classic instruments
  • Three master effect sections (each with six effect types) add the finishing touch to your sound
  • Vacuum tube driver circuit adds rich overtones and powerful distortion
  • New panel layout designed for intuitive operation
  • CV/GATE OUT jack lets you control a Korg monotribe or MS-20
  • Support for librarian software that lets you manage programs

The King Korg will be available February 2013 for a U.S. Street price of $1299.

Can you imagine being the poor smuck who has to demo it next to the Moog and DSI booth, not to mention your own MS-20 section.

I like it. I have a lot of time for Radias and R3, and despite the demo video which I agree did it no favours, I'm looking forward to playing with it.

wonder what the price is. I will want to hear more and compare this to VA Plug Ins... if it compares well against VA plug ins and if the price is NOT STUPID am I prefer hardware hands on control/immediacy. Then analogue up the setup with an MS 20 mini and maybe a Sub Fatty

...and I'm not even gonna mention the DSI P12 demo...talking about a synth sounding "like nails on a chalkboard"...
ppl will settle for anything with the "Dave Smith" name on it.

I'm sure this thing sounds better than what the video demo suggests. Cause it's a terrible sounding video ( almost as bad as the sub phatty one )

I programmed many of the factory patches for the King Korg. I can assure
you 1000% that it sounds great - the YouTube videos unfortunately don't do
Korg any favors. But then, people, no one should evaluate something based
on YouTube videos. C'mon, that is totally ****e audio "quality".

Do yourself a favor and check it out at the show, or when it comes to your
local shop.

well keep in mind we have only heard base presets, with out any of the charm of the tube or boost (except for the qwik bass patch , split second) To me it sounds like a Korg synth which is a good character to have in a track, but i feel like the tube is going to bring that normal flavor to a new level. I just wish there was inputs besides just the mic because the Fx sounds sik, esp that tape delay. This is one aspect of the radias which is awesome to me, i have my slim phatty in one input and my mopho x4 in the other input jack together is just a nice rig. Looking forward to seeing more footage on the king seems like it will be a good studio tool too i'm considering trading it up for my radias.

heres a lil demo vid
