Mini keys

The MS20ic (legacy controller) was 84% of the original size. This one apparently is 86% of the original size, so it seems likely that it has mini sized keys. Still it's an amazing synth if it sounds like the original.

The truth is these are all monosynths that more or less do the same thing couple of things and, in a mix, will be virtually indistinguishable.

For the price, i guess people will live with it. Can always control it from my master keyboard anyway.

Of course it is. Who's gonna sell 200 synths for 600€ ?

Have you not heard of Kronos? Please let us enjoy this rare moment. Lets all support Korg I'm extremely impressed by their latest endeavours!!

There's a reason why they changed form 1/4" to 1/8" jacks ?

Saves a lot of front-end space. Frankly speaking signal-wise you don't lose much with 1/8" jacks, maybe you could measure any jittering with really good instrumentation...

I'd take a Monotron at 86% of its original size.

Yes, it says so in the description on that page:

MIDI IN connector and USB connector
The MS-20 mini provides a MIDI IN connector for receiving note messages, and a USB-MIDI connector that can transmit and receive note messages. You can even connect the MS20 mini to your computer and play it from a sequencer.

I think the synth that'll really be hurt by the release of this is the MS-10. If you're going to settle for something less than an original MS-20, you'll just get the new MS-20. Who's gonna bother with the 10?

So, you think prices of second hand MS-10's will drop with the release of the new MS-20?!

You mean 1/8". Yeah that is strange. I figured they would put a 1/4" out on the rear.

I think the mini keys are ok. This ensures there is a valid reason to pick up the original MS-20 with the full sized keys. Options are always good. I've been listening to a lot of MS-20 demo's recently upon the news of this re-release. The MS-20 definitely has character. It's not "warm". It does not sound like a moog. It does not sound like a minibrute. It has it's own signature sound, which is somewhat harsh/brittle. I like it, it's a very 80's era sounding synth. I want to pick up an Akai AX-60, but this is on my list as well now (the re-issue MS-20). I don't care if it's irrelevant what synth is used in a mix. I want to use an MS-20 in my mixes. It has it's place. Plus I can pass it down to my children. Win win.

If they do not, I will drill a hole and put my own 1/4" Neutrik socket on the back panel. Problem solved.
