Yeah, I got that part. I think all offline bounces everywhere are faster than real time or there would be no real point to an offline bounce.

It was the "...subset of tracks..." part that I didn't understand, what he meant by that.

Thanks.

DP 8 more bugs no fixes

I've just started using DP 8. Very disappointed! I use the quickscribe page a lot for orchestration. No fixes and more bugs.

Got a reply from MOTU CS today that the win version is "a month or so" out. Seems that's the perpetual answer. Unfortunate.

I'm thinking Spring 2013, but it's understandable. It's a huge deal to code for a new operating system!

I actually think a bit sooner, MOTU wants and needs to make sure most of the issues of 8.0 are resolved with the initial Windows release,I think if 8.01 or 8.02 if needed clears up most of the issues it will then be released,I guess time will tell. ;-)

Some boat as you (coming from Logic in my case), but absolutely loving it. Haven't hit any bugs yet either.

After a week, I'm still blown away by the window capabilities. I'm using tracks on top, midi on bottom, event-movie-mixer on the right, with Finale on other screen. Couldn't be happier.

Wish though that the letters (C3, C4, etc.) were bigger and clearer on the vertical midi keyboard.

Does DP8 have a hardware insert plugin to integrate outboard?

Doh, I should have searched through the thread first, hardware inserts were discussed a little while back.

Bummer that there isn't a dedicated solution that lets you easily insert outboard gear alongside plugins.

TH
double click P, C, A etc and other keys to select the tool.
A = coursor
P = pencil

etc

Been using DP8.01 for almost 3 weeks in a row now, fulltime.
Done quite some heavy stuff that would have made DP7.24 show spinning beachballs. DP8 is rocking and rolling.

DP 8.01 (64bit) is running fast.. by that I mean FAST!!! DP 8.01 increased my Mac Pro power drasticly.
It´s like having faster hard drives, higher CPU and more RAM..

BTW. NOT A SINGLE CRASH!!!

I´m using JBridgeM for all the 32bit plugins like UAD. Liquid Mix, SofTube and others in DP8 running 64 bit. Works like a charm. I´m impresssed.

DP is future proof, always has been and always will be.
MOTU has once again proven that with the DP8 update; 64 bit, AU and VST, Mac and now (soon) also Windows, just to name a few.

Hope you all understand what we got here.

DP is a deep and mature DAW (Born in the eighties) ready for the future and it´s available for all and everyone of us using a Mac or PC. (Sorry Atari users

Couldn´t be happier, really!

It doesn't support Linux, which holds ~1% of the market share.

+1. I've used it for over a month now, and I think it's great.

I upgraded from DP6, it's a huge step forward.

I felt that Motu really had lost their way when they changed the interface in DP6 - DP5 and earlier had the best UI in the industry, IMHO. DP8 still has some oddities (double-tabs), but I feel the UI is back to it's old greatness.

Being able to search a pdf manual rather than going to the index of the book makes finding things so much faster..

Thanks to the fact MOTU did screw up the GUI in DP6, the user developement of customized Themes started.
Motu did listen and opened up for more developements and then included Themes in DP7 and DP8.

I always thought that when you have one good UI you don't need themes, but using different themes for different projects is more fun than I expected..

Or, for temporary selection, simply hold down that key, which will turn the cursor into the selected tool (so i.e., while cursor is set to arrow, holding down "P" key will temporarily turn it into a pencil, until you let go of the "P" key again.
