Now we're talking !

So, it says they are emulated. So based on original tube gear.

Are we talking about : Manley Massive Passive, Manley Vari-Mu, and ?

Can't find what the "ENHANCED EQ" refers to...

I'm thinking it's leaning towards a classic Pultec...?

Says "AAX" but not "AAX DSP" which all of softube's plugins now are. Guess I'll have to shoot NI a email and ask......

Nice. The first NI product I have actually been interested in for a very long time. Softube makes great stuff.

They do sounds really sweet.

I just love the VARI COMP behaviour and what about the PASSIVE EQ ?

Well, seems to have some arguments for Mastering purposes. Anyone using the UAD Massive Passive care to compare them ?

About the ENHANCED EQ, it has a nice colour but if you already have a good Pultec EQ plugin, no needs IMHO.

By the way, these can be used as others effects plugins, without the GuitarRig shell, so finally NI listened to us heh !

Will be interested to hear how it compares to UAD's Massive Passive.
All in good time, I suppose.

I think they should go back and release "guitar rig-less" versions of their other recent plugs as well. Maybe not top priority, but somewhere down the line.

If we don't have to load them exclusively thru GTRig, now NI have understood and this is interesting

Manley Massive Passive Stereo Tube EQ

Be nice if they made the comps standalone - never get used via GR affilliation :(

These do look nice so ope they are in the Komp 9 upgrade path

Little bit OT:

NI SSL stuff not comparable to Duende, strange behavior of Bus Comp, Duende much more transparent and tasty and NI cuts off some "3D" from sound. EQ of channel strip little bit better but again without transparency in highs and below 1000Hz it seems like NI stuff working realy badly compared to Duende. Thats the first findings...

Honestly: I'm really impressed by Passive EQ!

Never heard the UAD version but I know the Nebula version pretty well and this
definitely goes in that direction. Want it!!!

I have to say, as miro just noted, the Passive EQ is quite impressive. I own the Nebula 3 PRO Massive Passive Library, and after doing some A/B tests, I'd say the NI version certainly emulates the overall character of the massive passive quite well. It does not sound nearly as pleasant or as musical as the Nebula version does when making big shelf boosts (NI's version at identical settings to nebula causes quite an unpleasant peakiness in the transients, making a very sharp EQ sound), but this was also using a high shelf at 0 bandwidth and a 14db boost, so fairly extreme.

Where NI wins is the ease of use, as those who use Nebula know, EQ's sound amazing but its typically only one band per plugin instance. To be able to use a massive passive on a synth lead, especially with the mid side stuff NI has put on, it's a very nice track EQ that is miles above stock EQs. Don't know if I'd use it for critical mastering or mixbuss duties but that's why I have nebula!

The variable MU comp is a CPU hog. The Manley EQ has a lot of coloring and is very usable with this M/S mode. Yes, how it compares to the UAD Manley would of course be interesting

€199? + upgrade fees every few years just to use the same software on your new mac. I'd rather give my money to smaller independent companies than these corporate giants.

I've learned my lesson with NI. Any plugins that get released between versions of Komplete eventually end up in the new version of Komplete. And then you can't sell the plugins themselves most of the time. So I'll wait for the Komplete9 Ultimate update, which will probably have these and standalone versions of the other comps/eqs that were GR only until now.

As a owner of the Softube Passive-Active Pack, I'd say no.

The PASSIVE EQ from NI is a emulation of the Manley Massive Passive.

Just tried that one followed by the VARI COMP on a final mix and it sounds great. Another good mastering combination here.

Have you tried that link ?

An update to my earlier post: I really, really like this massive passive emulation they did. As I noted in my first post Nebula is incredibly painstaking to use for mastering because you can only open one band per module, so for example, dialing in a low shelf, high shelf, and 3 peaks is quite a bit of work. I'm loving dialing in the general tone of all 5 bands on the NI version, which definitely has some great character, and then recreating those bands in Nebula...much much faster way to work and the sound is awesome.

As far as a bus EQ, I'd say this will replace Nebula on a lot of my busses - way less CPU/latency, very solid sound, nice M/S features for widening. The presets on the NI version are also stellar - the "Pop Master" setting is working beautiful as a rough start on an electropop mix I'm working on. Unfortunately I don't own UAD so I can't compare those two, but NI really did this one right.
