WNS-1 never worked well for me. W43 on the other hand, has been exceptional on some material.

Price is nice.... Now, how many artifacts will it create is the big question.

I'm looking forward to a real review!

W43 never really used it ....i'm still oldskool whith the X and Z series and it saved me several times ....

i actually have an aceppela around i have to make the track (almost done now) of a famous "in Jail "rapper ......dirty take .....might try it ....and W43 that i totally forgot about .....

Whitecat if you can elaborate on your W43 use that would be nice ....

I am also wondering this... but specifically about removing room reflections from a vocal recording, though I believe the answer will be no, since it'll probably think the room reflections are vocals.

I dont think itll do anything from toms since I believe the plugin is only for vocal recordings.

"Waves NS1 Noise Suppressor intelligently differentiates between dialog and unwanted noise."

Even though its a bit depressing, I believe this plugin only works with vocals.

Even the video on waves website only have vocal demos.

Guys, I think this NS1 is a simplified (i.e. automated) version of the WNS. The WNS is a (wanna-be) copy of Cedar DNS. The Cedar was buit for dialogue (DNS = Dialogue Noise Suppressor). You can certainly treat all sorts of noise problems in a music situation using the Cedar, but its main field is post.

Just tested NS1 with a variety of "noisy" audio tracks (vocals, drums, guitars).

Yes.

Yes. However, there are more effective tools for dealing with buzz (Waves Z-Noise, iZotope RX 2).

Did you activate via the wlc (Waves License Center) application?

At first listen I don't like it. Will not replace Cedar, Waves WNS, or even C6 for me.

Not sure I'd want my choices to be limited like this.

On the other hand there have been pretty good advances in automatic noise profiling, like the Izotope hardware devices do. Maybe this works well enough and at $99 it's accessible to the lower-end market too.

On the other hand I hope to god that Avid editors don't try their hand at denoising now. Slap the mouse outta their hands if you see 'em do it.

Make sure that the Mercury bundle in your Waves account has been updated to V9, and that your WUP (Waves Update Plan) is current.

Is it more of a noise gate or does it really eliminate noise like iZotope RX?

Scroll right down to the bottom and check single-plugins to reveal the entire list of Waves plugins - it will display all available plugins in alphabetical order.

I installed this morning @ 2:30 am - yet to try it. It will come in handy one day.

Kind Regards

No, room reflections cannot be removed with this plugin.

The plugin can be used in a variety of applications - not just on vocals.

Why not try it out for yourself for 7 days for free: Wavesupport | Demo

Let us know how you get on with it, so we can all use the plugin in creative ways.
