Wow. This is big news. That was probably the biggest thing holding me back from a Mac laptop as I've used it heavily for the past 16 years.

i still don't see anywhere on their site to buy it or even info about it on their site. seems odd it's on every other music site on the internet except their own!

or is it simply not out yet?

The video looks nice; the waveform view is reminiscent of Bias Peak. I do not see a link yet to a Mac version on their web site under any of the following:

despite music sites saying it's "out now"... it doesn't look like it's out until sony says it's out. which they haven't yet.

if it is online, you should find it here (browsable): Sony Creative Software Downloads /

It's not right now, hopefully soon. Maybe they are waiting until all their resellers have it in stock.
Sound Forge 4 was my favorite PC application.

So, it's October, which means September came and went with no Sound Forge. Not surprised, but you would think that when a company one week into September says "available in September" they'd be pretty confident that the product will be ready in September.

Is Apple the only company who can say "the product is out on the XX of XX", and always honor it?

Strange stuff.

Maybe its because they release new versions of their products at almost the same time every year. (Not their full range of products may I ad)

And have product info leaks for around 5 months leading up to it.

:D

Ok, working with the demo now, but it seems it only supports 64 bit plug-ins, which means a ton (well, almost a ton) of my plug-ins won't work - including the indispensable Soundtoys plug-in suite.

Oh well. Wait some more, I guess.

I saw something about this on another forum. There's an easy fix.

First: make sure English is the second language listed in System Preferences -> Language & Text. (Presumably Italian is the first one listed. Keep it there.)

With the app closed open finder, navigate to the folder where you've placed the "Sound Forge Pro.app" and right-click the application and choose "Show Package Contents".

Go to "Contents" -> "Resources" -> and delete the "Italian.lproj" folder.

Relaunch Forge and the problem should be resolved.

I think you are underestimating how many Mac users are already on Lion, not to mention Mountain Lion. Apple usually has a very good upgrade penetration, not just on iOS, but also on OS X, not least because it costs something like $20 to upgrade.

Me, I am more worried about what to do with all my 32-bit plug-ins. Jbridgem doesn't seem to be working with Sound Forge right now, and I absolutely depend on some of these plug-ins.

Got the demo.

Can't figure out how to burn a CD.
Is this just not there for the demo version, or is there no CD burning with the Mac version?
(which would be insanely stupid)

Thanks,
kasper

The Mac version does not include CD mastering or burning, surround (AC-3) output or video support.

Makes it rather useless ..... brilliant move there Sony.

However, I do appreciate the reply/info.
Back to the drawing board for a decent Mac editor.

If you need integrated Red Book CD burning I would suggest looking at PreSonus Studio One (V2) Professional.

Are they out of their mind? I use SoundForge 10 on Win7 nearly exclusively for it's surround capabilities. They offer me a cross platform discount but I work mostly on Snow Leopard and very often in surround. That's it for me with SoundForge on Mac for the foreseeable future.

I'm up to me ears in DAWS - Pro Tools and Logic, not looking for another.

I was really hoping for something to replace wave burner and Sound Designer (long gone but still the best IMHO) ..... sigh.

Thanks,
kasper

Why wouldn't they have put CD Architect in with it, which is included with SF.

No CD/no DDP = non-starter for me.

Maybe it's a work in progress.

Back to thinking about the BIAS/wavelab crossgrade.
