Yes, it should be more logical to do the saturation on the input or something.

Could someone please verify for me that the HPF in RetroQ is working correctly? I can't seem to hear or notice any type of change when using it.

Thanks

Has anyone had any issues with this and Presonus Studio One on Windows Vista? The plugs show up fine in Studio One on OSX, and I see PSP Nitro, but I can't get the sQuad to show up there.

Thanks.

I'm in and like 'em, so far. I really didn't need more EQ's, but these seem pretty nice. Oh, and I think I saw mention of a new sQuad EQ on the PSP forum. So, now I have sQuad, oldTimer, Nitro and MasterComp... a nice PSP representation.

I got a little more time to play with these and I really like them. They're not bad for $17.50 each. I run the signal up with SAT turned off until I can see and hear and clipping, and then turn SAT on and off to A/B. The implementation could be more elegant, but I do like the effect. It's a kind of a soft-clipping thing, I think.

The SAT simply emulates analog clipping, and is more of an overshoot protection for loud sources. It impressed me with how tolerant it is before sounding bad and is definitely beneficial to have just in case you're using the plug on a track with hot levels.

Essentially, it allows you to use the eq in a more care-free manner, much like you would a hardware eq. I suppose you could use it creatively as a clipping effect, but I might look to other plugs for that.

Well, I thought I was hearing more. Maybe it's that in combination with the SIM function? I think I left that on, and did the most playing with the ClassicQ's. Anyway, they should be useful. When paired up with the oldtimer or the IK Opto/670, they could be even more interesting.

I have SAT engaged just in case there's an overshoot or something. Sounds better when it's 'saturated' than actually clipped, in my opinion.

SAT also adds pleasing odd and even harmonics prior to hitting the 0db point (where soft clipping begins). Some of the EQ's add more than others. The Console EQ for instance add's harmonic content simply by inserted it in the chain, now turn on SAT and additional harmonics are added (without raising gain or doing any EQ). PreQursor and Retro Q both do not add any harmonics until you hit the SAT switch and than harmonic content is added and increases the higher you raise the gain.

I understand, and you may have indeed been hearing correctly because the SAT engages slightly below 0dBFS.

its the new EQ which has been mentioned before as a free update for the sQuad
its a MCI console EQ emulation
just finished demoing
dont know if its available as an update for existing licenses already

is more aggressive than the other emulations and works great for separation
GUI has a nice SSL colour
