The 660 has a straight line in and out,,
,,,670 have the Lat/vert mode, simply an extra switch in between and wiring to/from.
I belive its better to skip it and have 10 feet less cables
I See no reason for me to have it, and you ?.
So would like to have a LOW VOLT standbymode for the tubeheating.
Leaving the studio for some hours, still keep the "Beast" warm but save life for the tubes.
So Lat/Vert mode,,,,Glad to know why you like it,,,,Its simple to just put in the circuit anyway.
In software land (I have the UAD Fairchild) I use the LatVert mode all the time when Mastering (unlinked) - to compress the centre seperate to the sides.
I use it to get that nice evenness across the mix from left to right.
But that's just me.
I really hope they release a 1u rackmount version of this unit for us that don't use 500 series stuff. Or maybe this is the perfect excuse to dive into the 500 series.

Well, it was for me.
There was some other gear that interested me, which was also only avail. in the 500 format, so I went for it.

looks awesome!
i am looking forward to trying one!
i think we need more comps in the 500 frame!
i would bet it has to be better then a plug-in even if it is not dead on, i will take the analog gear any-day: )~
I personally am VERY excited about this unit! One of the characteristics about the Fairchilds is that each one had a different sonic character. So as long as these units are able to capture that transparent, round, warm, in-your face bottom, and the smooth, present, top end, I'm game!...
I just Got off the phone with the maker of the anamod 660 and he gave me a lot of Good info.
I asked him exactly how close does this thing get to a real Fairchild's and he replied that it sounds indistinguishable to "HIS" Fairchild 660. (Emphasis on his)
There is a lot of truth in this, Not all Fairchild's are going to sound the same, Some use different tubes and some have been through more maintenance work. The Fairchild is very picky about the tubes it uses. (If i'm correct its some military grade stuff) and needs to be well calibrated.
According to the maker of the anamod 660 he said that his fair child (The one the modeled the anamod after) was in top condition with all the necessary components. He was even bold enough to say the anamod sounded better than a lot of the Fairchild's out there (Since it is modeled in it top condition and won't deteriorate in sound after years of use)
He did mention that his anamod 660 was a great idea but a bad one too cause it made his anamod 670 lose value lol
