All audeze phones benefit from a +2db shelf around 100 (3db on the lcd1). After that it’s very hard to beat bass accuracy with any playback system imo.
Also, make sure to burn them in with pink noise. Audeze really really open up with time. The more hours the better.

I sometimes switch them out with my ATH R70X's. Not as refined, but well balanced. They have a nice sub bass extension.
Seen 650's I had, but I find them slightly veiled and muddy in the bass.
Focal clears were pretty good, but again, weak bass.
People love using terms like 'focused bass', 'controlled bass', 'tight low end'. All sounds like an excuse for a headphone that lacks any fullness in the bass. I'm no bass head by any means, but I don't want to be guessing anymore while I produce or mix.
Ha the 600s have some of the worst sub bass performance and are the “flattest” headphones aside from that. You can eq the subs in but they are kind of distorted and not so detailed. I do like the 600s too, I used them before moving over to audeze stuff.
Planar/Audeze bass is different than dynamic driver bass. I actually find it better once I got used to it. In that if something sticks out at 74 hz I REALLY hear that it’s 74 hz, and not just a low end blob. Also with my Audeze, mic stand bumps without hp engaged (amateur recordings) are so clearly loud and I know right away what they are and what to do about them. Overall the low end is not as “punchy” but more linear and way way deeper.
Karthick from Audeze says these sound semi similar to the lcd5, but don’t have the same resolution of course. Early reports say these have a bit more open top top end (which is a good thing). So to me it sounds like these + a 2db low shelf would be the business.
I’ve mastered probably a hundred or so masters solely in audeze phones, and could count the number of revisions I was asked to do because of the sub bass range on 1 hand (across all genres). Half the time they end up using my first version.
