First version of ElephantDSP.com Room Reverb is out (open source reverb plugin)

Hi everyone!

I finally managed to release the first version of my new plugin ElephantDSP.com Room Reverb!

Room Reverb is a mono/stereo to stereo algorithmic reverb audio plugin with many presets.
It uses the implementation of Moorer's early reflection model and Jon Dattorro's Progenitor Reverb from the Freeverb3 signal processing library.

Key features:
  • Mono/stereo to stereo algorithmic reverb.
  • Many presets from small rooms to very large rooms.
  • Undo/redo and A/B comparison.
  • Separate level controls for all reverb parts.
  • Stereo width control.
  • Resizeable user interface.
  • Built-in explanation of all plugin parameters.
  • Easy to set up and use.

Listen to some of the Room Reverb presets applied to a drum recording and an acoustic guitar recording:

Would be very happy to hear your thoughts and feedback!

I'm not a reverb expert but for me the rooms sound quite realistic - haven't tried it out so far.

Sounds very good. Will try it as soon as the MacOS/AU version is available...

Thanks for your feedback!

I already have a working AU version on my machine, but the whole Apple code signing thing is giving me a bit of a headache at the moment.... but stay tuned

I like it a lot. Sense of space sounds as good as some reverbs I've paid for. The tone (for lack of a better word) is also nice. I'm not an expert on reverbs by any means though..

Parameter lock please?

Sounds good, but the adjustment system by % is an auto discard for me and I guess for lot of people.

Hi, how different is your reverb, implementation-wise, from Freeverb3 (which I quite like, especially Hibiki) and Dragonfly reverbs (also based on Freeverb3)?

Looking forward to testing this! In all cases I prefer algorithmic reverbs to anything convolution based.

Good 3D sound. Independent ER/LR amount controls and ER send make easier to define depth and imaging.

Hi!

Freeverb3 is a whole collection of algorithms. I use two algorithms from Freeverb3 (Moorer's early reflection model and Jon Dattorro's Progenitor reverb algorithm).

As far as I know Dragonfly Room uses the same algorithms with slightly different settings.

According to https://freeverb3vst.osdn.jp/tutoria...t_hibiki.shtml "Freeverb3VST_Hibiki_Reverb" also uses Moorer's early reflection model but a different late reverb algorithm. Could be that one of the other Dragonfly plugins uses the same algorithm constelation as "Freeverb3VST_Hibiki_Reverb".

Dragonfly has specialised individual modules for ER, room, hall and plate afaik, but based on the same Freeverb3 algos.

But I like your (ElephantDSP) implementation too, very straightforward and handy as a tool to learn about reverbation in general, with all the crucial parameters at hand and laid out in a logical manner.

Aus Brandenburg, ja? Grüße aus Berlin.

Freeverb3VST_ProG_Reverb is based on the reverb algorithm of Jon Dattorro's Progenitor Reverb and Moorer's early reflection model.
I think Freeverb3 is the best free reverb plugin ever and comparable to famous commercial reverb plugins.

Thanks, did a quick test with Logic on M1-pro (MacOS Montery). Works fine and sounds great.
