I'm mixing a post rock/chill style album and a few of the guitars sound a bit thin, thankfully I've been given DI's for reamping. I'm generally not a fan of amp sims, I always struggle with them, especially clean tones.

I was going to physically reamp, but thought I'd give this a bash first. To my surprise, this sounds really excellent and I won't have to physically reamp. Very realistic cleans, and the breakup tone is great too. I could do a full album with this if I needed to.

My issue with amp sim cleans is that they either sound too gainy, or just too close to a straight DI. This one nails it, for me anyway.

10/10
you might also want to demo and try S-gear and compare. They are different tools but both are great at cleans.

If you had to pick one Neural for cleans would it be Plini or Cory Wong?

For me, Cory by far. I think the cleans are better and there are more options.

I have both and typically audition both. Pliny's tone has a little more hair, which will be better one day and less preferred the next. The advice to try both is wise. If for some reason I *had* to pick one it would be Plini, only because it's more flexible overall with great higher-gain tones. If only ever used for clean, probably Cory.

The Cory Wong plugin is the only amp sim I've liked for cleans and I've tried about 10.

I agree with above comments. First demo if you can. Then Plini for versatility all round and Cory for cleans.

I recently checked some of the virtual amps
and I have to say that neural DSP realy impressed me.

I own Amplitube5 Max
its okay cause its giving so many options.
But it doesnt give me that "I play through a tube amp" feeling.

I also tried Scuffham S-Gear and a few others.

But when I first played the Cory Wong.
It gave me that "feels good" effect.
It even inspired a quick sound demo

all guitars played through "Cory Wong"

I also tried the other neural amps
but most of them seem to be on the heavy sound side.

my favorites are:
Cory Wong - very nice clean
Nolly - good clean/crunch and versatile.
Fortin Cali Suite - nice vintage Marshall clean and very good crunch/ blues

Plini, Abasi and Gojira: I find the clean amp a tad flat/ sterile (typical metal amp clean...)
Soldano sim sounds great! and so much better than the (free) amplitube.
But its just not my cup of tea.

the darkglass sim I found also nice for guitar - just had to combine it with a different cabinet (the darkglass cabinet sounds kinda odd with its tweeter)

Right now there is a 50% discount !!!
So im going to buy my 3 favorites

They've injected some magic into their process for developing this new amp. It's not sonic candy but addicting. I think I played it for 30 minutes straight after getting it installed and that's a rare amount of guitar playing for me.

Sharpen your pitchforks, here come to Aliasing Police...

It's quite audible even in realtime HQ oversampling mode.

NeuralDSP should add offline rendering OS.

They are working on an update for all their plugins -including Cory Wong- to their new algorithm. The same one used by Gojira, Soldano and I think also Parallax has been updated to that.
It is said to solve internally, according to the needs of the evironment you are running the plugin, the problem of choosing the most adecuate sample rate, if I understood correctly.

The question is cpu hit , i hope it will not increase , some sessions could simply no more run smoothly as i found theml already hungry as soon as yiou go stereo and time based fx

Shouldn't need to worry as Gojira takes quite a bit less CPU than Cory.

Yeah they really should have a 8/16/32 option.

It's not *quite* as bad at 48k with OS on but that's definitely unfortunate. He's got the gain maxed out on the dirtiest channel, which is not how I use this amp, so I'm not super worried about it personally, but it may be the same with some of the other products too...

Good to try and use (real) stomps for overdrive when possible too, Cory is a great pedal platform.

I wonder if metaplugin might be a solution when it's not possible to run at 96 or 192? I've heard mixed reports about metaplugin. I don't really know enough about it to say...

Also, the new Gojira and Soldano amp apparently have a different system for OS. There is no on/off switch, but it supposedly is dynamic depending on your rate. I just fired up Gojira at 48 and wasn't really hearing anything super obvious, but I have some tinnitus which is currently acting up so I may be missing it on account of that.

I also pulled them both up in plugin doctor, but it's difficult for me to tell what's going on since there is already so much natural IMD.

has anyone tried to combine the NeuralDSP Amps with the Celestion SMP Software?
I like the NeuralDSP cabinets, but im curious if it would sound/feel even more authentic.

Yes! Neural does a good job with IRs but they can't compete with SMP. At this point, I always bypass the sim's IRs.
