Heritage Audio Announces the HA-609 Diode Bridge Compressor
Heritage Audio is proud to announce the all new HA-609A, a modern, improved take on the classic tracking/mixing diode bridge compressor. As with the other products in their Elite Series, the HA-609A takes advantage of the latest in manufacturing technology to offer an unprecedented value without compromising audio quality — all built at the Heritage factory in Spain.
The HA-609A is a modern take on the classic transformer coupled diode bridge compressor/limiter design, with several improvements brought in to accommodate the modern workflow. While some classic iterations of this design utilized some IC chips and a class A/B amplifier stage; the HA-609A features an entirely discrete, class A design and a total of three Carnhill/St Ives transformers per channel.
The addition of a fast attack mode for both the compressor and limiter section allow the HA-609A the flexibility to handle individual tracks as well as groups and 2-bus program material. Thanks to a proprietary system of diode bridge matching, the HA-609A has better channel matching than any earlier incarnations; while the use of rotary switches and high quality, stepped pots allow for easy recall and maintain a perfect stereo image.
Surprised by this released. I did not pull the trigger on the successor after reading the average opinions but maybe this one with its two channels althought i dont understand (and dont like) the music in the clip that does not sound good or interesting at least to me and does not reminds me the 70's at all...
Whenever I've used a 33609 I never felt that I was missing a sidechain filter. Something about the way it made the low end kind of pillowy and smooth was something I liked it for. With that said, in this day and age it's nice to see upgrades like filters and mix-dry options. But it is what it is...
HA 609.1800 bucks.curious to see if these are sounding right.
the latest ams neve 33609 N was a major dissapointment.compared to the real deal they sound waay off.
made me angry they even sell those.
Got one of these on a lark to try out and really liking the sound thus far. Haven't tried the N. Found I preferred the sonics of this to the Successor I was comparing it to which seemed a little more midrangy.
It's been awhile since I've used a proper Neve 33609 but the Heritage seems to have a little more low end heft than I remember them having. Not super 2254 thickness but def big sounding and smooth with a nice low end and top.
