New Danish Super 8 Ch Mic Pre/DI with State of the Art Converter option

Rostec LMA8 is a new Danish designed and produced 8 ch Mic Pre. The design is based on a very stringent philosophy, meaning the shortest possible signal path and the highest possible quality components. The input circuit is a true class A differential gain stage, and the architecture is fully balanced throughout the unit, making the amplifier able to reject outside electrical disturbances, power supply noise, crosstalk from adjacent channels etc. Although the LMA8 is constructed of modern day's cutting edge technology, the design philosophy is inspired by some of the very best mic amps that have been manufactured over the past 50 years. The LMA features an optional converter module of the same extreme quality as the mic pre. USB or AES. Pricing is surprisingly human.

Interesting! You should make a 1 or 2 channel version for all of us DAW-dudes who rarely record more than 1 channel at a time.

Looks great!

... but why is there no ADAT to easily expand my Interface with 8 High Class Channels?

I think four channel would be a better option.

I guess you mean the 16 ch converter? After the Station Six, 2 ch w monitor controller + hp amp, the 16 ch AD/DA converter is the next thing! It can be configured in modules of 8 in or out as you want! :-) I'm buying two myself for my mixing setup to replace my Lynx Auroras. ( The Rostec converters sound SO much better! )

What about the USB Asio driver latency on Windows? Anybody tested it?

We all know that USB interfaces are only as good as their driver performance (Obviously on OS X there is no driver but the latency question still stands).

Can I comfortably record at 64 samples latency while running at over 60% CPU usage? This is a typical real world scenario. As an example, on RME drivers this is easy. Actually I can get up to over 80% CPU usage without any glitches at 64 samples buffer.. on my Prism Orpheus I can only go over 30% CPU before it starts glitching on low buffers. Yeah, I know. It's sucks as a sound interface.

Thank you for the links.
Do not worry, take your time for the D/A/D loop, I am not in a hurry for that file, one day, when you'll have time, it will be nice of you to do this test.

The Standalone AD/DA will be released early 2017 and I don't have the final prices yet, but as all ROSTEC gear it will be Top Quality at VERY Human prices! :-)

Hi! The closest is Copenhagen, but in early 2017, I'll have one in Sweeden :-) - I'll let you know as soon as it's possible for you to test. Maybe you can help me with some other possible test persons in the Stockholm area? Cheers Jesper Bo

Sure, I could find a few testpilots.

What attracts me is the small footprint for 8 channels of quality pres. I have Crane Song Spiders and Millennia preamps and as much as I love them they take up a lot of space and generate lots of heat. If I can get equal results with a smaller footprint and less heat it's all good.

But I need to hear it first

Yep the Rostecs are very compact. They generate some heat ( Not a lot )but the very smart construction of the heatsink still allows them to be mounted pretty close together. And there's no fans involved.

After New year I'll try to get a demo to you. We'll get back to that! :-)

I'm most interested in the converters as a sound card. As mentioned earlier, real world ASIO driver tests need to be done. Hardware means very little if the drivers are lacking.

I'd be interested in a demo unit for Finland as well. I'm interested in replacing my Prism Orpheus (don't like it as the drivers are crap).
