New Korg MS-20 Mini

''arriving February''

I just found on another page, with analog Korg stuff but also the R3 so they may mean VA not RA.. The grill maybe for valve force rather than RA cooling. Can't wait ;-)

New Korg MS-20

Can anyone confirm the new MS20 has VCO's? And not DCO's?

From sweetwater:

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MS20mini

Back and smaller than ever, Korg's MS-20 mini analog synthesizer revives the ... with the same analog oscillators (now digitally stabilized), first-generation filters, and a ... Number of Digital Outputs, No digital I/O ...

Digitally stabilized oscillators refers to DCO's if I'm not mistaken.

FlameNeoG 25th January 2013 10:49 PM

It's interesting that they say that. In the Sonic State video from NAMM the Korg guy says the only digital part is MIDI and USB, and everything else is identical. (not including size, of course.)

100th Monkey 25th January 2013 10:52 PM

Neither, it's clearly a fake plastic case built around an iPad mini running iMS-20.

FWIW, the Korg specs on their site say VCOs.

I hope it's referring to an auto-tune circuit and not DCOs--not that there's anything wrong with DCOs.

they used auto-tune in the monotribe. It's probably the same in this.

So they are iCOs

the keester 26th January 2013 04:55 AM

So no one knows for sure?

itege 26th January 2013 04:58 AM

If it says VCOs on the Korg site, I'd say they are VCOs.

aleric51 26th January 2013 05:04 AM

pre ordered one a little bit ago, pumped

volumetrik 26th January 2013 05:15 AM

im guessing its VCO but not like the old ones, btw did original MS-20 require warm up?

Xtinct 26th January 2013 05:29 AM

I'm not sure were the confusion or disbelief is coming from on the new MS20's VCOs.
I don't recall this question being raised when arturia announced the minibrute.

asynchro_nous 26th January 2013 05:39 AM

Considering how great this synth sounds I'd definitely say they are WTFCO's.

I know I don't!

(the "C" is for "Cares" in case it isn't obvious)

casiosk1 26th January 2013 05:47 AM

That's pretty effin' nifty, but it would be like an eggy broccoli fart to the analog purist.

ohmicide 26th January 2013 06:31 AM

why does it matter? only matters if it sounds good or not

ohmicide 26th January 2013 06:32 AM

$600?!? is this real life?!

227861 26th January 2013 08:47 AM

Monotribe sounds great. I wouldn't worry, the MiniMS20 will sound great too.

Like it, like it, like it.

All synths on the planet use WTFC Oscillators. Full stop. Some sound bad, some sound good. Full stop & end of story.

Reptil 26th January 2013 10:08 AM

Hmmm tempting...
Is it 1V/oct?
