Thought all the Slutz from Oz might be interested in this item:

Looks to be a handmade, one-off item:

Some good pix of the circuit boards for all you sleuths...

$510 for a box of spagetti? Wow. People are bidding on this having never heard it! The two trim pots just floating on wires near the rear pannel slays me...

Maybe it's the nitro unit from Mel's car in MadMax II

Yeah, I know - the front panel looks kinda promising, but the guts are like whoah!

Tiny's right about the bidding; maybe they're all misreading the description and think it's a UREI item.

but hey, lots of classics started as someone's homebrew unit; you never know...

It looks VERY homebrew.

As far as Aussie comps/eq/ and limiters go there are a nice selection of 'sleepers' that you can find around. Garage sales are a good palce to start and i have found many a good bargain in them.

AWA compressor/limiters are easily the most desireable. They were made for broadcast and are virtually one for one rioppoffs of the RCA BA6A. They even made a fairchild 660 ripp off but only 29 of them were made apparently and im pretty sure, after scouring outback radio stations and the like that they are ALL safely in th ehands of private slutz... never to be put onto the market again.

AWA also made some RARE and nice pre/eq for thier discrete broadcast desks. VERY 1073 like with transformers and inductors and massic BIG FCUK OFF transformers.

Eilco limiters are freaking amazing.. 1176 smash and grab type . Mainly discrete with PHAT transformer sound... simple operation ala LA2A with only an in and out out which have to be changed from the screwdriver 'set and forget' pots they come with as stock. I still got 2 of these and they are fanastic on a lot of sources where a slow release is cool. THey got that fast attack and slow release thing as they were the last in the chain before going to air. THey also done **** themselves and squezze the bottom end out of the signal which is way cool if ur an eq freak like me and love to eq the ass outa room mics and then bomb them like baghdad with compression.

cheers
