Man, this Cory Wong set from the 2021 Newport Jazz Festival is smokin'. The band is killer and the mix proves it! I cannot wait for you folks to hear it!

Just in time for the holiday weekend and the launch of summer vibes, the Jazz Night in America episode I worked on has just been published online.

In this episode, you will find a seriously funky set from Cory Wong and the Wongnotes as they performed on the main stage during the 2021 Newport Jazz Festival, plus stories from Cory about his past, process, and the evolution of the Minneapolis Sound.

The radio episode will air locally in NYC on WBGO this Sunday May 29th, 2022 at 7am and 5pm, and nationwide on various NPR stations for the next two weeks.

We are super proud of how it turned out!

For the record, I recorded and mixed the live music portion of this episode, and did not mix the host and interview microphones.

The official location audio credits are as follows:
Captured by Aura-Sonic Ltd. for Newport Festivals Foundation LLC.
Recorded & Mixed by Steve Remote
Location Audio Engineers: Graham Tobias & Steve Kolakowsky
Recorded Media Wrangler: Ken McGee

It sure was a powerful set. Killer musicianship for sure.

Yes, I did indeed record and mix the entire set which the producer used to pick which tunes made it in the episode.

I don't believe it will, but you never know.

I can always play the entire mix then next time to pass through NYC.
I have the entire set sync'd to the IMAG line cut, so we can watch it while we listen.
