How to get a finished track from this.... --> TO THISSS.... --> (Traktor Compared)

I've tried everything I can.

I've tried smashing my mixes, cranking the limiter, mixing lower, mixing wider, adding things, removing things, cleaning things, using maximizers, everythingggg...

AND YET...

Every time I finish a track, and I cross check the track in Traktor, my waveforms are always significantly softer than commercial releases. For instance...

My track :

Commercial Release :

HOW IN THE HEC***K!?!!?

I know the first culprit might be the mix... but I have tried every action I can think of to boost the song and keep the mix clean...

At this point, my track is already near clipping... I have it limited with about 2db of gain reduction so that it doesn't clip, but it still seems like the waveform is puny in comparison to the big boys.

ANy advice.... ANYBODY.... PLEEEEAAASSEEE!!

Gracias.

Like I said before, the track is already on the edge of clipping. I can crank the limiter harder, but then the mix suffers...

LOL, the commercial mix is probably clipping with zero headroom.

LOL, I swear it says the 2nd tracks is Deadmau5.

Waves L3 Multimaximizer - use the preset for 16-bit final CD master.

Okay it's a ****ty track but I made it in one sitting so I was okay with it.

I went back today and did some parallel compression and used a fatter maximizer... I wound up getting pretty close to the same dynamic display of the deadmau5 track.

So, in a way...you were basically right... just needed to turn it up louder. The trick was finding a way to do so without ruining the mix.

I actually revisted this and used the L3 to get pretty close to the commercial (yes it's a deadmau5 track) waveform dynamics without hurting the mix. I also did some extra multiband compression and parallel compression which definitely helped get it there without pushing the limiter.

that's your problem, it's supposed to be at least 6dB over the edge of clipping...

Thanks for the advice, that's the skill I want to absolutely improve most...

Is there anywhere that you feel the mix suffers in particular?

What stands out to you as especially bad?

These questions would really help me, thank you!

Get yourself a good spectrum analyzer & fix the mix.

The snare is hidden in the mix, smothered by other frequencies. The beginning is muddy. I swear as I listen the track is getting louder?

The Fab filter tutorial videos are a step in the right direction. They are particular to their own plugins, but the general concept is similar to whatever hardware or software you use for limiting, EQing, and compressing:

It's only $149... Personally, yes, you can get better at mixing - that always helps, but at the end, you're going to need a summing maximizer that doesn't compromise sound quality.

i agree. and the price has gone down...$150 is not bad.

OP send me an unmastered version and let me see what I can do. It would be better if it were like 4-5 stems, but whatever....just throwing this out there.

also Dynamics play a big role.
