System 5 MC Problem

Hi,

I'm having trouble getting my system 5 to work.
Sometimes it boots the MC software but most of the time is says ..Hardware error..the following boards are not responding..servo

Also when it does boot the MC software, I cant see any workstation.

I'm completely lost with this, any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Aza

Enter inte the bios and see if the 5V is ok.
Especially the older MCs are really voltage sensitive.

Hi Erik,

Where do I look in the bios ? What should it read ?
I had the power supply checked , and the tech said it was ok . Also I replaced the servo board , and it’s still the same issue , and idea what it could be ? Thanks

Under the advanced and power tab if I remember correctly (it’s been a while).
Or you can turn it upside down. Remove the bottom panel and use a multimeter to check the voltages at the +5V points on the cards.
This is obviously more exact, but also a bit “scary” as on the old units they vary quite a bit (more than they should.

In my experience over or under voltage if within reason will just affect booting and running. I started out tweaking it quite a bit when I tried a alternative PSU solution. Nothing broke because of it. I still do not recommend to go way over or under, but you can always just raise the 5V a bit if low and see if anything changes.
However. I have not seen that specific error message, my issues has always been related to either not booting at all or getting blue screens at various points of the startup process and these have always been power related.
So yours may actually be a failing board.

Hi Erik,

I replaced the failing board but still have the same issue .
Do you think I could try take the SBC out of the cm 408 and try it in the Mc?
Thanks

No clue sorry. If the roms and memory are exactly the same then probably. Otherwise probably not.

I'm not sure if this will help, but it might be worth a try to post your question in the Pro Tools Control Surface Users FaceBook group. The EuCon product manager, Eddie Jones, is very active there and if memory serves me correctly (which it might not, lol) he is a former Euphonix guy.
