Question about pirated FL Studio software

Hello all,
Many years ago, a friend installed pirated FL Studio 12 software. He made many songs with it (for non-commercial use), using mostly the FL Studio plugins.

He now wants to be legitimate - buy a new laptop, buy the software legally. If he transfers his FL Studio 12 files to his new laptop, will he be able to use them on the new purchased FL Studio 20 software?

Kind regards

I don't think there will be any issue.

The only possible change will depend on if the computer is the same one, and if that system was a 32 bit system. I could be wrong, but I think everything is pretty much 64 bit now. But if his computer was fairly modern in 2015, then he likely was working on 64 bit Windows anyhow.

And that issue might only impact the plugins he used. The original captured audio can be loaded into any DAW. And the FL Studio project file will most likely open.
