Recording skipping liked scratched vinyl

Recording live from a presonus studio live today using Capture and I found two or three places where the recording is skipping like a scratched vinyl lp.

Does anyone have an idea what causes that problem.

It dropped out during the recording or during play back?

either way could be caused by buffer size too small during recording or playback.

Looked today on the Mac and could not find where to increase buffer size. Any macuser out there can help?

There have been other reports of data 'glitches" using the Presonus drivers. You may want to check this thread for details. It seems to be more of an issue than just setting buffer size. Apparently one solution is to remove the Presonus drivers and revert to the Mac core audio driver.

Haven't ever tried Presonus Studio Live, but on other Mac audio applications, the buffer size is set from within the app. In Logic Studio there is an "Audio" menu that brings up the audio I/O settings Tab.

Someone suggested doing the initial recording using garage band but I dont know how to route the multitrack input from the presonus to garageband.

The other alternative is to purchase a professional software package. We will do that later when it makes sense for us.

Any suggestions welcome.
