Stereo overhead compression - tied or independent

Hope fully this will be pretty strait forward. I usually do not have the overheads going to the drum buss.

Do I want to compress each side independently (but with the same settings) so they move independently? Or do I want to have one l compressor over them both that is linked?

Personal preference. There is no right answer as it depends on the source drum track...room...tempo...everything.One thing you can try is bussing the overheads to a pair of 1176's or something that has hard squaush.Make sure there are no spikes jumping out.Blend with the uncompressed to taste.
