I'm picturing a situation where I get dragged to a party one night by a friend that's up on the hill in a big house. Not the type of thing I ever go to or enjoy, but I've got nothing else to do. The home owner introduces himself and finds out I'm a recording engineer, "Oh bro, I do music too! Come check this out!".

If I wanted an expensive paperweight I’d just buy some KRK speakers.

Notice somewhere in the promo matrial there is a section called "What is an XLR connecter" whic rather defines the target market.

My only interest would be to see how cleaned up (or not) the unsoldered terminals are...

I tried zooming in, but couldn't see. Does it say Abbey Road on the metal?

I think each one is hand-signed and numbered by a surviving member of the Beatles.

At least, that's what I assume must be the case, considering the outrageous price.

They could have put them in a trackball. Missed opportunity.

Not that I'm interested in buying, but I think the price isn't even excessive for a 46 piece limited edition (25 male, 21 female connectors). I assumed it would have been even higher for that kind of luxury collectible.

Even if it's something as "insignificant" as XLR connectors, those have been (extensively used) components of the world's most famous recording studio for half a century.

Many people love this kind of stuff/collectibles, either to buy for themselves or as a gift to someone.

Yeah, I think people are being a little harsh about this. Or maybe they're just not nearly the kind of sentimental sucker that I am. As far as "collectibles" go, there are far dumber things out there that people spend big bucks on. I'm going to get one, fully aware that it's "just" an XLR connector. It's silly, it's stupid, and I love it. It'll make me happy to be able to look over and see something that so many wonderful electrons have passed through over the years. Now if only I can suck the talent out of it Space Jam style...

However, these in particular were installed in the 1970s, post beatles. Near miss!

But imagine if there had no way to plug in...

I’d love to hear a comparison to these and some new xlr connectors. Preferably a A/B test. Then decide if it’s worth it.

The good idea would be to buy them all and put them on Reverb for twice the price

Terrible idea. By the time reverb takes its cut in fees, you’d be losing money.

This is a cross between me thinking, "Good for Abbey Road for whoring out their name for every last penny they can get for it" and "But goddamn, I'd be way to humilated to do this myself."
