Chords can be built from any set of frequencies. The more related the ratios between frequencies (the lower the terms), the more likely a chord will sound recognisable/intelligible. As such, chords can be built that are more intelligible than 12 TET chords (for example, chords from the Harmonic series). We're used to the names and shapes of 12 TET chords, but they're the populist tip of the harmonic iceberg. Harry Partch's "Genesis Of A Music" tackles this and many similar topics if you're interested.

Yeah it's pretty antiquated. Tracks can receive any MIDI channel but they merge all incoming data to one single channel. I imagine MPE support is prob not a priority for Avid, unfortunately.

I think most folks that work with a lot of MIDI have long since realized ProTools might not be the ideal DAW for them.

Im sorry for my stupidity but when are ratios more related? when u can divide one by the other and get a whole number? Im working trough the manual i am really enjoying learning this product.

Glad you're enjoying the MTS-ESP Suite, there are no stupid questions and we know it can be hard to learn about this stuff. We're learning new things about tuning all the time, it's a huge subject and I doubt anyone really understands it all.

When the terms of a ratio are lower numbers you're more likely to get a consonant result. That's not to say you can't find ratios with large terms that sound pleasing, it's just less likely. Obviously pleasing is subjective but harmonics (where ratios are multiples of other ratios) aren't and they're usually an important factor in creating musically useful collections of frequencies.

I can only get it to work with VST’s in Mono mode, is that correct behavior or maybe I’m doing something wrong?

That depends on the VSTi, if it can accept MTS-ESP then you're good to go, otherwise look for MPE capabilities and retune via that. If it's Multitimbral you can sometimes retune using different MIDI channels and if none of this worked you're left with monophonic MIDI pitch bends.

Our Launchpad script uses its programmer mode, essentially taking it over completely. You can't use it both for controlling Live and with our script, it's one or the other I'm afraid. You'll need to set things up in Live as shown in this video: https://youtu.be/zJdoic1Q26U. Crucially, in the Control Surfaces section in Live's MIDI prefs, on one of the rows, set the input and output to the LP Mini Mk3 DAW ports, but leave the control surface set to 'none', which will stop Live automatically detecting and using the LP, so that our script is free to use it. If there's any issues get in touch and we'll help: https://oddsound.com/contact.php

I have submitted a pull request but no word yet. That said, my fork is available to anyone to build and to save the effort I have popped some builds on our public beta site, which you are welcome to have a play with: https://oddsound.com/publicbeta/

Absolutely; all connected MTS-ESP capable soft synths will automatically retune to whatever reference frequency you choose. You can even automate changes to the reference frequency during a composition.
