What's your favourite DAW

As of April 2013, what's your favourite DAW (or sequencer)?

(yes yes, been done before, but thought I'd have an updated one.)

In average normal person spends 2-3 years to learn one DAW. So the favorite one is usually first DAW which you know well.

REAPER

I started over 15 years ago with Steinberg Cubase... Tried REAPER last year and couldn't run away from Cubase fast enough!

The learning curve is an obvious obstacle... But the rewards are worth it!

The only draw-back is converting all the cubase files to REAPER...

Interesting that there are two votes for Bitwig Studio, which has not been released yet (beta testers maybe ?)

My favorite DAW is Cubase

Started with it on Atari, then moved to DP, then LP7,8,and 9, and now back to Cubase 7.

Steinberg ROCKS

Edit: been cubase user for 10+ years, switch to S1 a year ago. Now I feel like I spend more time doing music than fiddling with the daw.

Should have asked, what is the cheapest or near cheap DAW. That would have been the winner.

Vegas audio to Vegas pro to cubase to PT. a little acid, studio one, cakewalk, and reaper in between. I hate them all but gave in to Pro tools.

ProTools, since that's what every studio I seem to find myself in uses... It makes it easier to do stuff at home.

Been using the very first version of Cubase on an Atari 1040 until the HD recording version on a Falcon, now been using Logic for the last 6 years, why? Because it was great value for money, it was something like $399 and came with Gigabytes of plugins and VI, more so than Komplete Ultimate, cheaper than what I paid for the 1G HD for the Falcon.

Yeah? Well the Cubase I was using on the Atari 20 years ago is light years away from Cubase 7. Plus there may be PC guys who used emagic's Logic who had to switch when it discontinued. Or folks who used Reason within another DAW who now only use Reason, or whatever.
I for one don't just keep using something because I already know it - that's conservatism - but like to try different DAWs to see how they are.
Why not ask others too?
I'm interesting in knowing.
Cheers.

Not as subjective. Anyway affordability might = favorite for some so it's inclusive.

Yes I saw some old threads. Wanted more modern options. Like Bitwig for example.

That's why I got Logic 8 when it came out, despite being a Cubase/Tools user. So much bang for buck in the instruments and samples alone.

Plus you may have someone who uses ProTools or DP professionally as an engineer who then jams out on Ableton or Logic to compose music for fun. Consequently they may hate ProTools and love Ableton.

I have an evaluation copy of reaper. Thought I might try it out. It's that much more preferrable than Cubase for you?

I can't believe the two biggies Samplitude and Sequoia are missing....

They are too huge to be listed as "other".
