Liquid Channel - Direct In

So I bought a liquid channel and I've read online that using a direct box I can convert the signal so I can use the line in on the liquid channel. My only concern about buying another direct box is that most all of my direct in guitar/bass parts end up having guitar rig 5 or some other amp simulation software put on them. To get a more natural sound should I go direct in (bypassing the liquid channel) then using the amp simulator then bounce that audio through the liquid channel hardware? Wouldn't than make more sense because actual guitar amps when miced, go through a mic then preamp/compressor? Vs going through a (liquid channel) preamp/compressor, then into my guitar cab rig? I hope I worded this all correctly....Help me out here gearslutz!
