Korg's Clarity System: in development? abandoned?

I'm curious about Korg's investment in DSD technology.

I noticed that they recently discontinued the Korg MR2000 series and that makes me wonder about the future of this project.

Can someone ask someone knowledgeable at Korg and get some kinda verbatim quote?

Is the Korg Clarity system a unicorn in the forest? Or is it real? I wanna know.

Thanks!

cheers,
c

I had planned on getting one of these over the next few months. Got to get back to work.

Its no longer on the Sweetwater catalogue and on Korg website it now shows some kinda multi track picture but no further info.

Korg needs to clarify if we'll be seeing Clarity.

Cheers

This is what I'm hoping to learn this weekend!

1) Have they lost interest in DSD? Or is a replacement coming for the Korg MR2000?

2) If they haven't lost interest and are proceeding with the Korg Clarity, when can we expect it?

To be honest, I think DSD, like SACD and DVD-A are dead formats.
They never really took off as far as I know.
I know... It's a shame.

Has a picture of a session going on.

I'd definitely be interested! Love my SACDs.

Can please someone get an answer from Korg at NAMM?

Have they discontinued the Mr2000S?

Are they abandoning the Korg Clarity multi-track DAW project?

Is there anything coming down the pike in the form of DSD?

Thanks!

I thought the MR2000S was discontinued along time ago . I remember emailing Korg UK back in October 2011 about one and they replied that the product had been discontinued a few months earlier.

Are they discontinuing it to replace it with a new model or with the Korg Clarity multi-track DAW?

Or are they getting out of the DSD business altogether?

If someone could get a NAMM confirmation or denial, I'd appreciate it.

cheers,

The mr 2000sbk has been around for at least two years but Korg are staying tight lipped on any further development even to this one let alone the Clarity.

Until there are a few more DSD believers then i think thats all we will se of it.

Sweetwater are no longer stocking it.

CMI music and Korg australia are disbanding it as well.

Tascam is still selling there dv 10000 master recorder.

Rupert Neve is talking DSD up , so maybe the old man knows something we don't.

Cheers

Me too. I was just about to link to this, as someone else did...

20120606 125320 KORG [email protected] Haus 1st_DSC0028 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

"KORG project team staff thought about a market of Direct Stream Digital products, it have not a future. We are telling "This recorder and DSD format is important in the recording field, mostly in the recording studios future.", but market is very small and listener market will go to the iTunes's MP3 or MP4 markets."

And then...

"Would you tell to KORG in the United States staff, about the "Clarity" (DSD DAW), "We hope to still the Clarity Priject in the KORG"...

That´s a clear 911 for DSD, from some kind of Korg consultants?.

Interesting... do something! (please?) I don´t care if that´s going to exist just "inside the box". (The actual studio with Clarity)

Maybe we can still record something for future alien-human relationship. heheheheheh

Come on Korg, you're soooo close!

Not launching Clarity this year would be like taking a lead car pit stop on the last lap of the DSD Indie 500, then not getting back on the track to finish and win the race!

It would be nice if Korg could provide some clarity on this issue.
