SSD or Thunderbolt PCI for lap top?

I've just spent a wack of dough upgrading my big pro tools rig to PT10
I'm purchasing an Apogee Symphony and have decided to upgrade my
lap top system as well with PT 10 LE
My rep is trying to talk me into a Solid State drive and a Thunderbolt card as well saying it will make performance incredibly fast and stable and almost rival my big rig for remote recording
this will add about 2k more to the price tag

Do I really need them and how much will they improve things?
feedback will be much appreciated

thanks
Doogie

There is no thunderbolt card. All new Macs except for the pro have Thunderbolt built in.

What SSD drive costs $2000?

well I am being quoted $995 for " Apogee Thunderbolt card for Symphony I/0"
and $850 for an upgrade from " HD to a Solid State 512 GB"

???

Ah, I see....There is no Apogee Thunderbolt Card. Apogee is going to release a Symphony64 Thunderbridge which is a standalone box that connects between the MBP Thundebolt port and the Symphony64 port. AFAIK it is not available yet though.

The Thunderbridge will have the same performance as using the Symphony64 PCIe card. It will allow you to have large projects with much lower latency than over USB.

If you get a MBP with Retina display, they come stock with an SSD.
