Any suggestions why pro tools slower

I have an older powermac G5 (dual 2 ghz). The computer itself seems to be running just fine. I'm getting the beach ball more and more often though. Even sometimes without plug-ins just recording basic tracks and listening back.

I thought maybe the hard drive was going and so I replaced it. This has not resolved the problem - although it temporarily seemed to help.

I have pro tools HD, v 8 (the pci-x cards, with one HD process card and one HD Accel process card).

Anyone have any recommendations for what is causing this performance issue?

Protools 9 is not supported on a G5. It requires an Intel Mac...

Correction, I have pro tools 8, not 9.

I don't thiink this issue is directly a result of upgrading the software as the issue has only started surfacing within the past 5 months. I verified when I upgraded and that was 2010.

Check Avid's compatibility page. Make sure you are running the latest version of PT8 and make sure you are running an OS version that supports it.
