I just wanted to say that I know that money is tight but if you are going to get the Apollo, wait until you can afford the quad. Several people have said they wished they could upgrade their duo to quad. You'll be glad you have the extra processing power.

Buy used.

Pro Tools HD 10 license on ebay - $650
ilok - $50

Spend the rest on some monitors of your own.
JBL 2328 pair - $700

Fantastic mics!! It became my 'go-to' mics instantly. Everytime my friends listen to the recording, they ask "what kind of mic did you use?" I got DAV BG2 which is also fantastic pre for 8020s. I'm now looking at 8090 (wide cardioid just announced), but probably another $2500.....

Get a $1000 PC laptop and a RME UFX $1800, spend $200 for plugins and reaper. Done.

That's great! I knew you'd like them. I miss them dearly... but their sale bought me a new truck! I rent a pair of them on occasion, can't wait to hear the 8090.
