Connect PC headset to audio interface

Some kind of weird problem.

I'm trying to connect a typical headset with 2 stereo mini-jacks to my audio interface via mini-jack to jack adapters.

Phones works, mic doesn't.
Any ideas why it may happen?
(it works with my notebook's mini-jack sockets)

Is something wrong with adapters? Do I need a mono adapter?

the jack adapter for the mic must be mono....the one for the phones stereo!

(you have 2 ears, also 2 "speakers" so you need 2 sperate connections=stereo
you have one mic, so you need 1 conection=mono)

cheers

Freackin headset has 2 stereo mini-jacks.

So if

stereo-mini-jack -> stereo mini-jack to stereo jack adapter -> audio interface

is not working... why

stereo-mini-jack -> mono mini-jack to mono jack adapter -> audio interface

will?

Starting point is stereo mini-jack, anyway.

And of cause iMac doesn't have a mic input, only line.

Generally, those mics use a polarizing voltage ( sort of like phantom ), so "ring" may be something like 5volts.

You can buy headsets with a battery adapter for such use, uses either a double or triple A I forget which). I bought two bags of them for something like $15 surplus, just to put some disposable headsets into a ClearCom system. The battery box also has a gain control, so they were pretty handy.

I think that what I bought were Parrot from the Dragon Naturally Speaking company. But if one company has them, more than one must.

Sorry to bring this topic back from the grave but I'm facing kind of the same situation... and I didn't seem to find a straight answer anywhere else.

I bought a Scarlett 2i4

and I have this headset (Logitech G230)

(with these stereo mini jacks)

---------------------------

The thing is the following:

I seem to be able to use perfectly the headphone jack, but, as the OP, I don't seem to be able to get the Microphone to work.
Is it some configuration stuff? Or they just won't work for some "electric" issue (like voltage or something like that)? In that case, can I do anything to get it to work (using this headset, I'm not thinking about changing it yet)

Thank you very much!

Hey guys I know this is an old thread but I wanted to lend a hand here. This should convert 48V phantom to to the 5v for your headphones. I haven't tested the product so if any of you pick it up let me know!
