I have acquired an owc external hard drive that was used on a mac....I am a pc guy. I would like to reformat this drive to use on a windows system but it does not show up on any computer (tried a windows 7 and an xp machine) I have. Is there a way to make it work on my pc???

A software called Macdrive might do it. But can't you just hook it up, and using fdisk or Partition Magic delete the existing partitions and repartition it?

Right click on Computer>Manage>Disk Management.

You should be able to see the drive.
Then delete the volume and reformat.
