Custom note mappings possible with keyboard midi controllers?

Hi, I am about to purchase my very first controller so sorry for the noob question. I need a controller that instead of constantly fiddling with octave and semitone transpose up/down keys, has a different templates (presets or whatever they are called) that can save and load different note number and MIDI channel configurations for the keys. Is there such a controller?

Thanks!

All keyboard's I've used the last used transpose value, but it's not stored as part of a preset. If you want to do something like this you are going to need something like Bome's MIDI Translator, the free version of which will do the trick.

What DAW do you use?

In ableton you can use midi inserts to do transposition or lock everything to a certain scale. Then just use any controller and you can just stick to the white notes!
