Monitoring Vocals, audiofire 4

Hey so Im getting ready do ditch some gear. Right now I use an onyx 1620 mixer to monitor my vocal recordings.

My intentions are to get a new vocal chain, mic and sound card. And sell the mixer.

I dont want to run my vox through any mixer so I can keep the signal as clean as possible. My question is how well can one expect to monitor vocals through the Headphone out on the AF4? In the past (with my sh!tty m-audio quattro) I got terrible delay from monitoring like this which made recording impossible.

What should I do?

On the Audiofire 8 which I assume has the same architecture this is not a problem. Not sure what the signal path is, but I have not had a problem.

This page:
Firewire audio recording interface 6 IN 6 OUT | Echo Digital Audio

says near-zero latency which is consistent with my experience.
