MacBook Pro CPU shortage with PT10

Hi all - sure this has been posted a few times before but a search hasn't cleared anything up.

I do remote drum sessions, and this usually results in me running 12 mic channels with perhaps 10-12 plugins across them max, maximum of 5 backing track stems, 5 stereo aux FX channels.

It's all been working fine until this week when all of a sudden even running a single stereo stem with no plugs can result in a CPU shortage error - upping HW buffer doesn't help - I even reinstalled PT to see if I could rectify...

Does anyone have any layman (as I said: drummer..!) Approaches to find what I could do to possibly get things back in track?

Logic runs fine but I really don't know it nearly as well right now and work dictates fast turn around.

I'm getting pretty fed up with losing takes and even suffering failed bounces...

Any help - greatly appreciated!!
