Cubase Metronome not working

This seems to happen to me quite a lot, in mutltiple versions and on both Windows & OSX.

Do I need to set anything up other than the metronome preferences?

Do I need to enable it as a device or in the mixer or anything?

Any ideas?

Do you use the control room? Because if you do, you might have to set the metronome output separately.

Thanks. I've never heard of the control room... Is that a setting?

I don't have a complex in/out structure. Just my built-in audio stereo x 2 in and x 2 out.

Then you probably haven't activated it. It is in the routing setup, press F4.

Thanks. I don't want to be a baby, but:

I'm in the routing setup (not for the first time), and I still can't find where I'm supposed to activate my metronome.

Am I being dumb?

I think you have to go to the VST outputs page and 'click' next to whatever you've assigned as your main mix connections?
A little 'click' will appear or some other icon
You can only select 1 output to assign the click to

Other than that sometimes a restart restores a missing click
And lastly (should be firstly) check your metronome settings and make sure you have the volume up and click active etc

Found a picture of what I'm talking about as I'd done a rubbish job of explaining myself

Huh?

Something like this is definitely in the manual, which you probably should of looked at in the first place, or googled. Nothing wrong with recommending that, specially when page 16 and 85 would of answered your question.

Page 16. "You can route the click to a specific output bus, regardless
of the actual Control Room output, or indeed when
the Control Room is disabled"

To the left of that text in the manual is basically the same picture that Sniper linked you to.

Hopefully that works for you.

Metronome

This happened for me when using VST Connect, I had to click on the control room and look to make sure both metronome icons were lit.
