Logic quits when opening a project?

So my friend send me something to mix for him but when I open the project it loads all the plugins then you can see the arrange window for about a second then it just quits. It doesn't even give me a "Logic Pro unexpectedly quit" or anything, it just closes.

Aside from one EXS24 and a couple of amplitube plugins it's all unaffected audio with no plugins on. Yet, when I try to re-open it, it says it shut due to a memory issue but I'm running an 8GB, i7, macbook pro and constantly run big projects on that.

He sent me an earlier version of it which opened fine and the only thing he's done since then is record a few channels of vocals.

If it makes a difference he sent it me by zipping the logic folder and then uploading it to dropbox, I've tried getting him to re-do this a couple of times just incase it had corrupted when he zipped it but it changed nothing.

Anyone got any ideas?

Try starting with Ctrl or Shift-Ctrl:
Logic Pro/Express 8 & 9: Startup modifier keys for troubleshooting

You can also import everything into a new project if you cannot get it to work.
