Roland TD-30 vs Plug-ins

I'm thinking of using Roland drum module for midi parts in home recording.
So I make a midi region and Roland produces sound which is captured by my I/O.
And the main question is - is it a better way to record drums than plug-ins such as Superior Drummer, Battery and so on?
Main styles - Rock, Electronics, Pop.

Absolutely.

Specially if you KNOW (via V-Drums or a controller keyboard)
how to create drum performances.

I would even say that the TD-12 & TD-20 sound REAL and as up to par
(if not better) than plugins ...
it all boils down to if you know how to do it.

Using the VH-12 (VH-11 & 13) on any of these modules will make a
hi hat sound like the real thing.

Ohhh... That's nice.
And as I remember comparing soft and hardware synths - Roland will sound fatter and brighter?
