Which Mac would I benifit from more for recording?

Pretty basic. Just wanted to know what is most suited for recording? Is going from 1.6ghz duo core to 2.0ghz duo core going to make much of a difference? 1 to 2 gb?

desktop tower or laptop?

I guess it would a bit.

I wouldn't touch a laptop though, depending on what you do.
If it's primarily for studio work get a tower.
Laptops are lame for recording in comparison to desktops

What software are you intending on using, that's where you have to start and choose a system around that.
