If your wrapping VST stuff then make sure you get version 2 of the Fxpansion VST to RTAS utility. There are some problems with Kontact 2 and midi, still. But, most plugins work great at show a noticeable improvement in performance.

7.1 is very reliable once you have it up and running correctly.

I'd stay in 6.9.
I bought the 7 version and had much problems opening older arrangment when there were midi tracks/instruments involved (protools crashed while loading the arrangement).
It cost me a day of anger but now i'm save back where i was : at Le 6.4.9......

Maybe others have more luck but i'm glad everything works flawlesly again and i don't have to think about computer problems.

Interesting . . . 7.1 has been working fine on my Powerbook.

Haven't worked on anything with a tonne of plug-ins yet, so I can't comment on the improved efficiency.

Yes opened some old sessions that had the cpu usage banging red and giving me the finger and they ran great. Could actually put 1 or two more plugs on. I run a dual 1 ghz g4.

7.1 is great over here on a G5 dual. A few quirks, no crashes, but I'm loving the new features. And if you have two processors, it's a must. Very efficient with rtas.
