Hey everyone. I haven't been able to contribute much to the community around here and would like to thank all those that do. it really is a great place to learn, get advise and to gain more knowledge about gear that we all like to spend are hard earned cash on.

To further express my gratitude I would like to offer everyone some free snare samples I have just finished working on. There not the best but I dig 'em and thought I'd share.

Ok, here it is. Set 2 which comes in TWO Parts

This set is tuned lower and is overall more powerful and in your face. Has a great crack to it that cuts through a dense mix really well and has some weight to it as opposed to set 1.

Recorded the same as set 1 apart from this time around I added a trans designer and processed the sound a bit. (eq/comp)

I'll have to upload the first set without the room mics tomorrow now. Sorry guys. I won't forget.

Forgive my ignorance but what's the difference between the crack and rimshot samples? Normally with Slate drums etc crack samples are rimshots (hitting the centre of the snare and the rim at the same time) but clearly we've got 2 really different sounding hits here.

Basically the crack hit are full on hard hits dead center. I doubled the track and set up a trans designer on it to raise the attack and blended it in.

The rimshot hits are also hit full on but obviously hitting the rim of the snare as well as the center to give it much more attack. So essentially you can choose between the two heaviest hits (crack or rimshot) to use in your mix depending on which you prefer.

Just look at the rimshot hits as an alternative to the cracks if you want more attack.

Hi ickefes, Apologies for the late reply. I had a band come in last minute for an EP so I am a little held up at the minute. As soon as i have some time i'll upload them for you however, I have made some new snare samples (using the same snare) for this session and they are sounding really good. A lot better that the previous ones I uploaded so when I am finished I'll upload these as well.

The file is missing a few of the med/soft hits but that shit is easy for you guys to add some more with just a pitch plugin and maybe a trans designer etc. Have fun
