Weird Sample Playback Glitchiness on new iMac

So, I finally got my new quad i7 iMac up and running (which i LOVE so far, i will post a detailed review when i finally put it through its paces in earnest) but i'm hitting some problems off the bat, that are probably simple errors on my part.

Running pro tools 8, it seems that any software instrument I run suffers from a kind of clickey glitchiness as it spits out the samples. I used a lot of the same virtual instruments (Battery, FM7) in Logic 8 and I had no problems at all. I am running the session at 24/48, and using an original Mbox.

Now, its not a HUGE deal since I hardly ever use sequencing or virtual instruments in Pro Tools (thats usually audio only) and i'll use logic for any of that stuff, but it sure would be nice to have.

Any ideas here on what might be going on? Thanks a lot.
