Need a computer for a new tracking room

Hi all,

Setting up a new tracking only studio for small projects. We have an outside engineer and we will be running Pro Tools LE (new to me).

I want to go mac on this project and I'll be recording full bands at times so we will be using 8-16 inputs. I am getting a Digi 003 Rack and then figuring out the best way from there to add 8 more pres. I will slowly add better mic pres most likely as lunchbox modules

I assumed I should just get a quad core Mac Pro and add a monitor (probably about 3K-3.5K total). Or I can just grab the new i7 for $2000.

I do love the i7 all in one design. I have an older imac at home and it works great (unless you need to replace a hard drive).

PS, if I go Mac Pro, how many of you run a RAID configuration for either

1) Backup (Raid 0)
2) Speed (multi striping)
