Firewire drives

What's a good external FW harddrive that I can use for audio?

OWC makes Firewire drives that rock, make sure you get the "oxford" chip drives.

911 *Series II*

The Series I topped out at about 20MB/sec. Not too bad for audio, but drives are really fast these days, and the 911 Series II is at least 50% faster.

Does that thing have a wall wart or on-board PSU?

Still waiting for more info on Quantegy's new FW drive, I got the impression that it was ready by now. (Perhaps they will tell more next week in Las Vegas?)

The OWC drives use an inlline transformer for AC ( like most laptops , so it is niether a wall wart or internal)

I've got a small herd of the OWC drives, and I would recommend them unequivocally. They've survived the perils of countless cross-country FedEx journeys and the occasional careless flop on a table while clearing airport security without a hiccup. They ain't SCSI, but I haven't found reason to care yet.

I will hold out for the Quantegy a little then. I absolutely want an internal PSU. I hate external PSU's (except for big rack-mount one's for consoles, that is).
