MCU + Extender, PT8 Compatibility

So I just can't figure out how to get my MCU and Extender (the previous version, not the latest edition) to work with Pro Tools. There is just something that I don't get about it, and I can't say what it is. So here's my setup:

MCU + Extender into MOTU Timepiece
MOTU Timepiece (USB) into Computer (Mac, Leopard)
Pro Tools 8 (002R)

The MCU and Extender are both in HUI mode. As for the rest of the MIDI setup within the computer and within PT, I'm clueless. I can't seem to follow the setup guides from Mackie with any amount of success. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The Mackies, when in the Logic mode, work perfectly with Logic. I'm just failing on the PT setup, I think. This is SO irritating. HELP!

Go in to Set ups. Go in to Peripherals. Go in to MIDI Controllers.

Type = HUI

Receive from = the out port your Mackie control is on your MIDI interface

Receive too = the in port your Mackie control is on your MIDI interface

# Ch's = 8

Repeat in slot # 2 for your extender.

I'm getting this error message after following your directions:

"Pro Tools is unable to communicate with HUI. Power-cycle HUI and check its connections. Note, if HUI is not in use, update the Peripherals dialog to prevent further warnings."

And it still doesn't work after cycling. Do you have to do anything in Leopard's Audio MIDI setup?

No you don't. I'm just assuming you have a working connection between your MIDI interface and your computer. Do you have any other MIDI stuff running so that we know it's not the connection between your MIDI interface and your computer?

Oh god.. it just started working...

So yeah, in the Audio MIDI setup in Leopard I had the Mackie devices set up as connected to the MOTU. So I just deleted the devices (not the MOTU), and it started working. Weird. I wonder if they still work with Logic now...

Yep, they still work!

Man oh man, THANKS!

I'm a little ashamed of myself now for not having tried that in the past. Dumb.
