Another vote for the Kensington Expert mouse. I couldn't live without it!

The Kensington's are out, Sonicdefault! thumbsup

Wrist angle is great; action is killer; multi-function is convenient -- it's an Amazing Trackball!

Thanks! Do you think the overall function is a big improvement over the Expert model?

Yes, it is in terms of comfortability, it sits very low -- also the overall footprint is smaller without the need of the Expert's wrist-pad. The bottom of the ball is exposed allowing smudge to drop out of the body, not collect (brilliant). I can't seem to get Multi mode rockin' yet, but haven't used it with a variety of apps yet (get back to you on that).

Overall, the best input device I've used, made by one the finest company's around!

Thanks for the report! It sounds great- I'm sure I'll buy one, but I prefer wireless. The slim profile of the SlimBlade makes me wonder if they'll be able to incorporate a battery compartment and release a wireless version. Have you heard anything about this?

This model isn't wireless, yet.

But the SlimBlade Trackball Mouse is battery powered Bluetooth!

Well I guess that's a good sign! Thanks again for the heads up!

I'm a little concerned that the twisting of the ball rather than a scroll ring may give me tactile shock Was it difficult getting used to? I've gotten where I just spin the scroll ring so quick, I don't even notice anymore. I'm also curious about how smoothly the software integration is for applications. Ironically, I had more problems with glitches in Mouseworks for my wireless, than I did with the previous version.

I'm hoping that there will soon be a seperate product simular to the the pad on the new Macbook Pros. Seems like that may be the next generation after the mouse-trackball dark ages. Anybody have any experience?

I keep reading reports that the buttons are not customizable on the Kensington SlimBlade Trackball. I really wanted to get this trackball, but I'm reading things like:

"Users not only cannot program the device's buttons, but they also cannot customize the speed and acceleration of the device outside of the operating system software provided by Apple or a piece of third-party software."

Can anyone confirm this? Does Kensington Mouseworks not work with this trackball? If so, that's a deal-breaker for me.

UPDATE: Just called Kensington and they confirmed that the buttons can't be programmed on the SlimBlade trackball and that it is not compatible with Kensington MouseWorks. That's really unfortunate as it seems like a really nicely designed trackball. I wonder why they wouldn't have made it work with MouseWorks?

I've been a trackball guy for a long time but switched over to the mighty mouse. I like the ball but hate the mouse part of it. I've been looking at the expert mouse and was wondering about the scroll ring. Can it go horizontally as well as up and down and can you do the control scroll thing to zoom in/out and up/down with track height and width?
