Hi Andy,

Looks real nice, but no Autofade? That would be a dealmaker for sure.

So what makes this different from say Waves , Duende and other SSL mixbuss emulations ? And no TDM version ? makes it hard to compete if the sound isn´t fantastic. And the website only leads to a picture ? ? .

Well, that kind of statement makes me sick.

There is no demo for the moment, so be patient .

It's already different in one very important respect: $99 thumbsup

It will certainly be interesting to demo it when it's ready.

What's different?

After 2 seconds I'd say DRY/WET knob + sidechain locut comes to my mind.

Looking forward! I'll try it.

Cool.

The Waves SSL compressor is silly sounding.

The Duende requires... a Duende.

The URS SSL thing is cool, but it doesn't sound like an SSL at all.

I'm looking forward to hearing this thing.

cheers,
Chad

Looks like it has great potential, but:

I don't understand why the attack time should only go to 30mS, unless replicating the 80's analog unit was the most important design goal (which is goofy when there are no theoretical limits to what features can be digitally implemented). Why the heck would you want to limit the attack time when it could be much longer and therefore more useful?

As an example, I like Waves API 2500 but often I will skip it due to the 30mS attack time limitation.

I'm not saying this plug-in will suck because of that, but I really think plug-in designers (or perhaps their marketing teams) are short sighted when they create replicas of hardware units... when instead they could improve or expand upon them in the digital realm. While I love my UAD plugs, they are the kings of hardware emulation. UAD should at least put a simple digital meter on the input and output of their emulation plugs so clipping can be easily avoided.

That is a fantastic price if it is in the sound ball park of the competition.

Yes i agree 99$ is really a good price if it sounds as good as the others... the extra fonctions are also very welcome.

Demos are meant to be dramatic to emphasize the charactere of the effect. If you want to use the tool with more restraint, that's available to you.

Yes, but if most of the demo-files sound squashed to me, i can't tell if i like it. Even your favorite comp can be pushed too hard.

I'm gonna wait for the demo-version.

squashed yes
but still preserves transients
not a common feature with plugs

nothing against your product andy, it looks good. but i find it ridiculous to have such early announcements for plugins now. i don't see this as a positive trend. even with hardware these teasers are hardly bearable but with plugins it just makes no sense. just show it to us when it's ready!

with software i find it only barely tolerable when it's something groundbraking like the new melodyne and even then ...

Dunno about that . . . Nothing wrong with some early press, and to be fair , I know this will be out very soon . Just because you can't tolerate it , doesn't mean that everyone holds the same opinion . This is Andy's first plugin as his own company. It's just as much about making people aware of the new company on the scene .

I'm just as eager to see it out , and I've known about this for quite some time . . . this is nothing like melodyne, which has been months .

I'm sure the website will be live soon and we can all get some new toys . . . I mean productive tools , heh .

Johnny

Before this announcement there was already a 20+ page thread on KVR about this. Everybody was begging for screenshots, features, demos, etc.

I guess you can't please everyone...

Yeah, speak for yourself. If it's a product I'm interested in, I love some early buzz. If not, it's pretty easy to ignore. If it turns out to be vaporware then you have something to bitch about on the internet.

I for one am totally chuffed about this.

This is ridiculously wrong.

It's called marketing. If you make a product, there are several advantages to announcing it before it's out.

1) It allows the designer to incorporate wishlist requests, should they arise.
2) It allows anticipation to build, and word to spread, increasing sales.
3) It allows the potential buyers to prepare to budget for buying that item when it's out.

The list goes on and on.

I think generally it's a positive thing if anything gets announced a couple of months before it'll be available.
To be fair, a ballpark release time frame helps to avoid confusion, but anybody remembers the product annoucemen of the Mackie d8b? This was...how many years before they actually released the desk...2 years at least??

Anyways, i like to know what's coming, because it can affect my decision to purchase something or when to purchase something versus something else that will come in the future. Think of Pro Tools HD for example.

BTW, the "range" feature is brilliant. The only plug-in i have that does that is the Eventide Omnipressor. On hardware, the Elysia Mpressor has that feature too. Very, very useful feature on a bus compressor.
