Out of curiosity, how do you hype the plosives? Low end boost?

Can't wait to see your next product Andy!!! :-)
After I re-read you email it was clear that you didn't think it was a limiter but you just wanted clarification if the oversampling included the waveshaper which it does :-)

Hey Rydan, thanks for pointing out the thread! Very impressive that this is actually on the official UAD forum as well. UAD have an excellent reputation and make great plugins. Since I'm a new startup and I'm just building my reputation I only realistically expected people to consider anything I first released being at best on par with UAD, but so having people actually prefer The Glue to the UAD 4k is fantastic :-)

But the CPU usage is a lot more compared to normal one especially when use the glue on every instrument groups.

Could you come up with a rendering mode which sets to high oversampling such as or better than voxengo plugins so that we could mix in 1X and expect full power on audio mixdown??
Yes, I will support separate realtime and offline (render) oversample amounts per instance of The Glue. I have already coded something similar for Synth Squad which released by FXpansion. It's good to hear another developer is doing the same thing :-)

Credit where credit is due - and it's great that you are so enthusiastic and open about things, posting on here for example, listening to feedback and always looking for opportunities to improve the plug-in. The fact the plug-in sounds great, is CPU friendly and is incredibly well priced is just the icing on the cake.

I'm thinking about getting this one.

Currently I'm using the Stillwell Bombardier as master bus compressor. How does The Glue compare?

I think you can download a trial copy, probably easier and quicker to hear it this way on your own materials.

I'm not sure how to explain this, but here is my take.
When I first used Stillwell Bombardier, I whas very happy with the results. However, when I started using The Glue, I didn't use the Bombardier anymore at all. However, don't think The Bombardier is so much worse.. it's not worse, it's different. I think The Bombardier can be described as a very good digital compressor, where I believe The Glue is an amazingly good analog compressor emulation. I'm a big fan of the SSL bus compressor sound, and The Glue delivers!

Alright, thanks.

For what purposes do you use The Glue apart from bus compression?

It's really good at compressing cars and motorbikes as well You can use The Glue on any source you want, just give it a go. It has it's own character, but it is reasonably clean and modern sounding compared to more vintage compressors like an 1176 which has lots of distortion in the signal path.

Since 1.0.16 (now 1.0.18) I'm using it for a lot more then only bus compression. It's my goto compressor now. I do still find use for my Softube CL1b and FET compressors.. but they are used a lot less compared to 6 months ago.

So, to answer your question: Besides on busses I put it on vocals, guitar, percussion, piano, allmost on everything actually.. But it depends.. sometimes the Softube sollution is better.. but most of the time I start with The Glue and move on and be very happy! heh

I find a fast-ish attack and auto release works really well for taming unruly lead guitars and vocalists without overly colouring the sound.

Hello Andy,

I just bought The Glue the other day from your website, cause I tried the demo and simply loved it So congratulations, in my Mastering engineer opinion on it, I can say that's one of the only Plugin compressor to compete with some high end hardware, alongside the Sonnox dynamic module (but very different though). The "High sheen" is very sweet, very nice color.

But having a little trouble there, it appears that in nuendo 4 the plugin seems to eat a lot of CPU, but after waiting for sometime without playing the song ?!? Like you just wait then the CPU goes up n up n up...?

Any tips ? thx for your Time

Adrien.

PS: Bought it yesterday, version 1.0.18 so I guess its vst3 ?

Hey Unik, I got a report about this a couple of days ago and have fixed the issue. It is a "denormal" bug where some of the voltages get closer and closer to zero and cause extra cpu usage. I missed adding thermal noise or "hiss" at around -140 dB peak to some of the voltages in the algorithm in an optimised code path. All fixed now and will be released within the week as part of v1.0.19.
