Quad Core Macs and Pro Tools 8

I did a search and couldn't find the answer to this question yet. Does Pro Tools 8 use all the processors that the new macs have?

Although I haven't played with it much, I'm pretty sure they allow you to select between 1 and 8 cores within the Playback Settings suggesting that you can make use of as few or as many cores as you want. I've heard people say that there are a few problems with all 8 cores selected though, related to RTAS glitches that were present in 7.4.2 and still in 8.

Let me know if this rings true for you, I'd be interested to hear for sure.

All 8 cores work fine for me on my Dell. It's not a mac but it's based on the same chipset and the Mac Pro.

I think NI Kontakt player and anything using its engine, Like Garriton has a problem with multi cores, In fact I think you have to change your settings to 1 core for it not to crash.
