vista 64 users... ram usage?

Hey, I was thinking of making the switch to vista 64 because of the ram ceiling on xp. I just ordered 4gb ram and would like to use it! lol Anyhow, just wondering how this os is working for you guys... How much ram have you gotten windows and your daw of choice to recognize?

Im using xp and PT8 and will be putting a new daw together this week(p5q se pus, q6600, 4gb ocz ram)

PT8 isn't vista 64 compatible yet but I hear that's coming in the near future.

Well I am running 4 Gigs under Vista 64 and it's all there and accounted for. But yea your DAW needs to be 64 bit compatible to begin with.

When I ran Vista64 on my P5W-DH and a Q6600 I had 4GB of RAM. I was not convinced this was enough RAM to run the OS smoothly. The OS still stalled and spun its wheels during basic tasks. Perhaps 8GB of RAM is enough to get this behemoth OS to run smoothly?
